Within the EuroVis 2021 conference, which took place virtually from June 14 to 18, the three most outstanding dissertations on the topic of visualization were honored with the EuroVis PhD Award. This year, Daniel Cornel, a researcher in our Integrated Simulations Group, had the pleasure of receiving the prestigious award for his PhD thesis "Interactive Visualization of Simulation Data for Geospatial Decision Support".
The awards were presented during the EuroVis livestream on June 15, 2021. In his acceptance speech, Daniel Cornel particularly emphasized on the importance of collaborations for his research work.
Daniel Cornel's PhD thesis evolved directly from his many years of research on the flood simulation software Visdom. For his dissertation, the visualization expert has already been nominated for the TÜV Austria Science Award 2020 and portrayed by "Der Standard": Flood risks at a glance
