VRVis is looking for a female student who would like to transfer her skills in augmented reality to the art sector.

The project

Codified gestures in painting constitute a complex and insightful language, but usually they are hardly understood. In this project, in partnership with the Laboratory for Cognitive Research in Art History (CReA) from UniWien, we aim to build an augmented reality application that layers sentences/subtitles to specific hand-gestures in paintings to improve the understanding of the depicted stories.

What your tasks will be

  • Develop an AR prototype in Unity 3d for Microsoft Hololens or Magic Leap 2.
  • Work closely with the rest of the group to set up an evaluation study.

What you will bring to the team

  • Interest in augmented reality
  • Interest in cross-disciplinary research topics
  • Solid programming skills
  • We use Unity 3D to develop our prototypes and C#, so experience with game development and VR or AR is recommended

We will apply for the FEMtech internship grant at FFG. If granted, you will earn a min. of EUR 1,770.53 gross per month for 28.5 h/w. The duration of the internship is still flexible, however, it would take at least 3 months, and up to 6 months max.

Application deadline is 17.03.2024
